What I'm Thankful for

1. I'm very thankful for my friends and family. They have all been there for me through a lot and I know I can always count on them. I love them all very much and I don't know where I'd be without them. 2. I'm also thankful for my trip to Europe. As a sophomore in high school I went on a ten day trip to England, Ireland, and Wales. It was a great experience and something that I will remember forever, and I am very thankful to have been given this opportunity at such a young age. 3. I am thankful for my education as well. I value all the things I have learned throughout my years in school and look forward to all the things I still have to learn. I know my education will go a long way in life and I'm glad to have been given the opportunity to receive a good education.

Mass Appeal

I was not in class for our 3rd advisory period of the 2011-2012 school year. During this time, Sophia Kebbedde and I were on the TV show Mass Appeal as the school's "community service interns." We spoke about raising awareness of community service, which is also one of the main goals of advisory. We focused on different ways the students can get involved, and why it is important that everyone does their part to help out in our community. We also informed the public of our upcoming community service events such as the Rays of Hope Walk to raise money for breast cancer, and the Halloween Parade to support the South Hadley Food Pantry.

Community Service

As part of advisory, Maddie, Matt, and I discussed different ways we could get involved in community service projects both in and out of school. Some ideas we had included traveling to Monson (or other places in need), beautification of local parks and public facilities, volunteering at the South Hadley Food Pantry, and going to the younger schools to help out. We are always looking for great ways to pitch in and help our community.
